Terms of service

What this is

These are the rules for using ALOSTORA WORLD. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree to them, do not create an account, and if you already have one you can delete it at any time.

What the service is

ALOSTORA WORLD is a social application for adults. In this version it gives you an account and a profile, the ability to follow people and to be followed, friends and friend requests, private text messages, voice rooms with their own chat, and a way to report anything you see. Pictures and files inside messages, a balance inside the application and things to buy with it are written into the code and are not offered in this version; the privacy policy lists what is switched off.

Not every part of the application is available in every version. A feature that is switched off in your version is not a promise that has been broken; it is a feature that has not been switched on.

Your account

You must be eighteen or over. You give your date of birth when you sign up and the application checks it. Giving a false date of birth to get past that check is a breach of these rules, and an account found to belong to someone under eighteen is closed.

An account is for one person. Do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone else.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. We will never ask you for your password or for a verification code, in a message, by e-mail, or anywhere else. Anyone who asks you for either is not us.

A new account has tighter limits for its first three days: on messaging and on how much weight its reports carry. This is there to make it expensive to create accounts in bulk for abuse, and it lifts by itself.

What you may not do

These are the things a report can be made about, and each one is a rule here:

• Harassment. Targeting a person, following them around the application, or encouraging others to.
• Spam. Repetitive, automated, or unsolicited content, including advertising that nobody asked for.
• Hate. Attacking people for who they are.
• Sexual content. Sexual material, and any sexual content involving a minor is handled under our

child safety standards and is never merely a policy matter.

• Violence. Threats, incitement, or glorification of violence.
• Impersonation. Pretending to be another person, a company, or a member of our staff.
• Breaking someone else's copyright or other intellectual property rights.

Beyond those, do not try to break, overload or reverse the application, do not use automated tools against it, do not attempt to reach another person's account or data, and do not use the application for anything illegal.

What you post

What you write and upload stays yours. By posting it you give us permission to store it and to show it to the people you posted it to, inside the application, for as long as you keep it there. That permission ends when the content is deleted, except where a copy has to be kept for the reasons listed in the privacy policy.

You are responsible for what you post. Do not post something you do not have the right to post.

Voice rooms

A room has a host. The host, and the moderators the host names, decide who may take a seat, can mute a speaker, can remove a person from the room, and can ban a person from that room. Once you have a seat and turn your microphone on, the people in the room can hear you; turn the microphone off, or leave the seat or the room, when you no longer want that. The privacy policy says when the microphone is asked for and where your voice goes. We do not record rooms, and you may not record the people in one. What you say or write in a room is covered by the rules above exactly as a message is.

Reports and moderation

Anyone can report a message, a profile, a voice room or a message in its chat, or a piece of media. A report goes into a queue that people read. Reports are not decided by a machine alone.

Uploaded pictures are checked automatically before they are published, and material that is banded as high risk is held for a person to look at rather than being published and reviewed afterwards. A confirmed match against known illegal material is blocked immediately.

What happens when a rule is broken

These are the actions that actually exist, and one or more of them may be applied:

• A warning.
• A note kept on the account, with no effect on you.
• Content hidden, so that it is no longer shown to others.
• Messaging muted, or restricted to a narrower set of people, for a period.
• Removal from a voice room, or a ban from that room.
• The account suspended, which means you cannot use it for a period.
• The account banned, which means it is closed to you permanently.

You are told what happened. You can appeal a moderation decision, and an appeal is opened, reviewed, and then either upheld or overturned; you can also withdraw it. Where the decision was wrong it is reversed and the effect is lifted.

A suspended or banned account does not lose its data automatically. Your right to ask for a copy of your data, and your right to ask for it to be deleted, both survive a restriction. The privacy policy and the account deletion page say what deleting does.

Buying things

This version sells nothing. There is no balance, no coins and no purchase in it, and no payment card or payment detail is asked for or reaches us.

When a later version offers something to buy, these terms are re-issued before it does, and the rules will be these: what you buy inside the application is a licence to use something inside the application; it is not money, it does not convert into money, and it cannot be transferred out of the application; a purchase is made through the store your version was installed from, and that store's own rules decide refunds; we do not take card details and we do not hold them.

Ending things

You can stop using the application at any time and delete your account from inside it, or by writing to us if you cannot sign in.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, that is used to harm other people, or where the law requires it.

What we do not promise

The application is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, that it will be free of faults, or that anything you post will be kept forever. Nothing here takes away a right you have under the law where you live that cannot be taken away by an agreement.

Changes to these terms

When these rules change, the changed text is published on the same page before the change takes effect, and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the application after that means you accept the new version.
