Delete your account

The fastest way: inside the app

If you can still sign in, delete your account from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. That is the quicker route, because the request starts immediately instead of waiting for someone to read a message.

Guest accounts (once guest mode is switched on)

Guest accounts are deleted from Settings in the app, or automatically after 30 days without use.

If you cannot sign in

You can ask for your account and your data to be deleted by writing to our official support address. You do not need to reinstall the app to do this:

This address is for receiving: a real message sent from an outside mail account was confirmed to arrive. Sending from it is not configured and has not been tested, so do not expect the reply to come back from this same address.

Say clearly in your message that you want your account deleted, and include the account identifier: the phone number or the email address registered on the account. Without that identifier we cannot tell which account you mean and cannot go any further.

Do not send your password or any verification code in the message. We will never ask you for either.

How we confirm the account is yours

Before anything is deleted we confirm that the account belongs to you. We will ask you to show that you control the phone number or the email address registered on the account, and we may ask about details only the account holder would know. No account is deleted on the strength of a message alone, because that would let someone else delete yours.

What is deleted

When the request is carried out, your personal data and your profile are erased: your display name, your picture, your bio and your date of birth, the phone number, email address or Google account used to sign in, your sessions on your devices, your friends and the people you follow, and the text of your messages.

What may be kept, and why

Not everything is erased. We would rather tell you so here than promise otherwise:

• Purchase and payment records, and in-app balances — kept for financial and accounting reasons and for legal obligations.
• Moderation and report records, including evidence kept from live chat — kept to protect other players and to prevent fraud and abuse.
• Security audit records — kept because we have to be able to show what happened and when.

Each of these is kept for one of those reasons: a financial obligation, fraud prevention, the safety of other people, or the law. None of it is kept for marketing.

Full-account deletion is not immediate

Once the request is recorded there is a cooling-off period, and you can cancel during it and keep your account. After that period the deletion is carried out, and from that point it cannot be undone.
